The Vanilla Viking
Author(s):
Phyllis Mccallum
Afton, a lovely little English girl, unscrupulously kidnapped and brought back as a slave to a Viking household, calls herself a Vanilla Viking, because she is dressed in slave white, "the color of boiled vanilla pudding." In spite of her desire to escape, she saves her new family form capture by an English sea captain. The plot is master-minded by Vemind and his sulky wife Gudrid, who wants all for her ancestral home and thinks thus to obliterate her brother and his family. Afton and Erik, the Viking lads who want her for a sister, are aided by the sea snake, the miraculous ship with a live sea serpent as a figurehead.
