Fairest Flower of the South
or... To Know Her Is To Love Her

Author(s):
Alice  Mcdonald

The war is over, but the disoriented Col. Culpepper fights on for the Confederacy. The colonel's daughter, Aura Lee, must come up with the cash to replant the cotton crop. She turns Magnolia Plantation into an inn. The first guests are Beauregard Mason-Dixon and his snobbish mother. Aura Lee and Beauregard fall in love under the approving eye of his mama, who believes Aura Lee to be wealthy. Enter the villain, Horton Smedley, who has been tossed off a riverboat. When Mrs. Mason-Dixon learns the truth about the Culpeppers' financial situation and Beauregard discovers that Smedley has been "trifling" with his mother's affections, his own evil ends. A surprise ending straightens everything out, proving that virtue and love triumph over villainy!
