The Bride Comes To Yellow Sky
Author(s):
Paul T. Nolan
Adapted from a short story written by Stephen Crane, author of the RED BADGE OF COURAGE, this play takes place in the frontier town of Yellow Sky about 1890. When Jack Potter comes to town with his new bride, he discovers that Scratchy Wilson has been "eating bear meat" and is terrorizing the town. He's looking for a fight with the marshal, but when Scratchy sees that Potter is married, he realizes that civilization has, at last, come to Yellow Sky. Scratchy declares, "I'm never coming back to no town again. Never again." This is a tongue-in-cheek comedy that brightly satirizes TV's old westerns.
