Christmas Dreams
Author(s):
Jon Robertson
This play takes you to that vulnerable center of the heart where love must be proved. It is about dreams denied and fulfilled, and those few who still believe in miracles. In Depression-era Chicago, young Jackie McArthur struggles to support his grandmother, Abby, while trying to deal with anger at his alcoholic father who recently abandoned them. It is Christmas Eve, and when he learns his father is returning, he makes plans to run away. He is visited by a spirit in the form of a rail-riding tramp, and must choose between the love that's so hard for him to express and the hate that consumes him. This family story is told with realism, humor and love, and will light every heart that knows the sting of betrayal and the healing of forgiveness. One int. set.
