Showtime on the Showboat
or... Don't Throw Garbage in the River

Author(s):
Sheila  Smolensky

As the River Queen Showboat steams down the mighty Mississippi river, Captain Lucy is attempting to open a new theatre season. She not only must earn enough money to pay her crew and performers, but must also make a payment on the showboat. But evil thespian Rufus Bilge is angry for not being cast as Romeo. He plots with his accomplice, Sadie Larue, to drug young actor, Alex Adonis, sabotage the show and gain control of the showboat. Luckily, the dastardly villain is foiled and Alex wins the lead, as well as the heroine's heart. This show has optional songs and is filled with opportunities to add vaudeville acts to make this a zestful production. "...loads of fun. For many of the performers and audience members this was their first taste of melodrama and all had a great time. [It was] a pleasure to present." Tammy J. Barton Fayette Community Theatre, Peachtree City, GA "The wonderful names, fractured Shakespearean enactments, and humorous dialogue make this a winner." Plays for Children and Young Audiences
