Seventeenth Summer
Adapted by Anne Coulter Martens. Author(s):
Maureen Daley
Angie knew this summer would be different! She could tell by the different way she felt about everything—by the odd feelings she had when she'd seen the other girls with their dates. She notices Jack Duluth especially. He's surrounded by girls who seem to know so much more than Angie, and they make her feel painfully naive. Yet Jack asks Angie to be the first girl to come out for a sail in his boat—and it's at this moment that Angie's very special summer begins! It's far from "smooth sailing," however, for Angie. Her parents don't understand how important this boy has become. Angie's older sister is tactless to the boy because he isn't as educated as she is, and he can't afford to go to college right away. In spite of the complications, Angie and Jack find that they're falling in love, but already footballs are being thrown instead of baseballs and it's all coming to an end—except what both Angie and Jack take away from this special summer. One int. set.
