Atalanta

Author(s):
Thomas J. Hatton

The feminist movement didn't start last week. Actually, it was already underway in ancient Greece! King Oeneus has a problem. A savage boar is rampaging through his little kingdom, destroying the crops and killing the peasants. To the man who can rid him of this pest, the king offers his beautiful daughter Serendipity and half his kingdom. It seems like the perfect solution until the maiden Atalanta insists on entering the boar hunt and brings with her a group of girls who threaten to picket the palace unless Atalanta gets her chance. Oeneus' son Meleager also joins the contestants. Then Demetrius, a poet who loves Serendipity, enters the competition. Discover how Atalanta wins and loses and then wins again in this delightful comedy which uses a classic legend to deal with some very modern issues. Everyone finds something wonderful in this show—whether a feminist or traditionalist! One int., one ext. set.
