Jim Hawkins, sweeping the floor of the Admiral Benbow Inn, longs for adventure and dreams of sailing. When the old sea dog Captain appears with his tales and treasure map, Jim is thrust into the intrigue and begins to live his dreams. Old Kate, a salty, rough woman of the sea, appears stalking Flint's map and the Captain. Jim takes the map, eludes the pirates and sets sail with Doctor Livesay for the mysterious Treasure Island. Aboard ship, he meets Long John Silver, and they develop a strong friendship that is threatened when Jim discovers who he really is and confronts him. Silver and his crew capture Jim and row to Skeleton Island (Flint's Treasure Island). Once ashore, Jim escapes and, with the help of Ben, defeats the pirates and secures the treasure. This exciting adaptation captures the energy and language of the novel while reducing the number of characters and simplifying the staging. Multiple simple sets.
