The spirit of giving takes on a new dimension in this charming holiday comedy. Tammy is a precocious teenager largely ignored by her globe-trotting parents. She plans her own kidnapping (complete with ransom note) to get their attention, and randomly selects an elderly couple as her kidnappers. Willie and Marge, who are extremely poor, are torn between going along with the prank (and accepting the ransom money) or returning Tammy to her parents. The surprise ending benefits Willie and Marge and also opens the door for a new relationship with Tammy and her parents.
