"It's hard to be a princess when wishes don't come true." So bemoans the young, spoiled Princess Alicia, and we are launched into a delightful musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' The Magic Fishbone. The story takes place in a kingdom where things are slightly off center. King Watkins, Alicia's father, is a penniless dreamer. He is convinced that if he can only formulate a budget, all of the kingdom's problems will be solved. Queen Vicki is quick to remind him that they haven't any money for a budget, and their bickering is Alicia's constant woe. Enter the feisty Good Fairy Grandmarina, who offers Alicia one wish via an enchanted fishbone. The Magic Fishbone's songs are catchy and lighthearted. Among them are the finger-snapping "Alphabet Soup Song," and the lovely "Make the Magic Flow"—"Magic comes, magic goes, Give your best, and the magic flows like a river, Dream your dreams, but don't forget. You have to work and learn and grow to make the magic flow." One unit set. Audition tape available.
