The Tough and Tender Troll
Author(s):
Phyllis Mccallum
Foss, a young troll-in-training, finds that his final examination from Meanness School involves kidnapping Lisken, the little girl from the Farm On the Fjord. This is a place he plunders every night to prove himself to Upbraida, his school mistress, Helga, the headless troll hag, Tertio, the three-headed troll and Digerbein, the one-eyed troll. It develops that Lisken is his own sister! So this is why he weeps every time he frightens people. A magic ball of yarn leads his brave cousin Peter to the troll cave. Foss conspires with him to turn the trolls to stone and escape with Lisken. This is an exciting story for one and all!
