The Eighth Order
Author(s):
Nancy Kiefer
The time is the 1930s and the place: a small Midwestern town. Charlotte Steele, a down-to-earth single parent struggling to support herself and her two children, is also grappling with an extraordinary prediction concerning her son, Philip: that he will speak with an angel and have the power to raise up the dead. After having denied the prophecy for years, Charlotte comes to realize that there are forces at work far greater than her own fear and disbelief. This play illuminates the power of the human spirit as we balance the struggle to survive in the world against the impenetrable miracles that abound in our lives. Unit set.
