A community in Quebec's Eastern Townships is torn apart by a cafe owner's refusal to obey the province's sign law. The media rushes in to capture the tearoom tempest on tape, but completely misses the other drama unfolding in the village: the agony of elderly anglophones, victims of rapidly changing demographics, who huddle in their old homes, isolated from their community by ill-health and language.
