Showdown At The 3R Ranch
Author(s):
Ian Gallanar
It's high noon and things in Dodge Ball City are looking nasty. Trash is piling up so fast that Sheriff Carrie Gooper has her hands full. To make matters worse, she's been challenged to a showdown at the 3R Ranch by Zack, the low-down, no-good, weasel-like leader of the notorious "Bac Pac." For help, Sheriff Gooper turns to her trusty deputy, Blabby Daze, who is rehearsing for his new television show, "This Old Shack" (even though television hasn't been invented yet). Blabby is an expert on the 3Rs -- reducing, reusing and recycling. He (along with Wild Bill Hitchcock in the upper elementary version) shows the sheriff how they can clean up the town and avoid Zach altogether. Will this cause Zach to junk the showdown? Not on your landfill. Zach has his own secret weapon for the trash problem, and he wants everyone to know about it. An important environmental lesson with a western twist.
