Tinker Autumn
Author(s):
Wil Denson
Tinker Autumn relates an unusual alliance between two young people—12-year-old Caitlin Moran and 13-year-old Peter Crichton—in a rural American setting. Circumstances have placed both outside the middle-class mainstream of society, leaving Caitlin illiterate and Peter an orphan. Both must fight the system in order to hang on to their individuality and integrity. This play demands of its young actors a wide emotional range, as Caitlin fights off her humiliation with bursts of outrage, and Peter, terrified of authority, is forced to act bravely. A serious play about outcast children, Tinker Autumn forces a realistic look at human needs. One ext. set.
