Premiered at the Southern Repertory Theatre's New Plays Festival, this stunning short (8 to 10 minutes) play begins with an old woman in a rocking chair, rocking in and out of the light, in and out of the world, while a squeamish social worker tries to cope with necessities—the old woman's and her own. When the old woman takes hold of the social worker's arm, she recoils with involuntary anger. Then in a short searing speech we suddenly share the old woman's life which is ending in the arms of a caring young woman, perhaps the person the social worker used to be. In our view this minimalist play demonstrates an extraordinarily talented playwright. Bare stage w/props.
