Michelle has had a difficult time dealing with her parents' recent divorce. She is befriended by Chuckie Harris who seems to offer understanding and solace through his alcohol and drugs. Her family's concern, her friend's interest and a teacher's involvement make Michelle defensive about her new "friend." When Michelle is found in possession of Chuckie's marijuana, she finds that it is her family and friends who stand by and support her, while Chuckie disappears.
