Santa's Big Trouble
Author(s):
Vera Morris
A toymaker who can't stand the cold of the North Pole persuades Santa Claus to let him work in Sunnytown, U.S.A. He promises that the warm weather will enable him to create a fabulous new Christmas item. It's called "Wondertoy" and it wonders about all sorts of things. The owner must look up the answers in a book. A jury of children decide they don't like it because it's too much like school! Wondertoy malfunctions and almost wrecks the toyshop. The children love it! They don't want the toymaker to fix it. Toy buyers decide to call the mistake Big Trouble. Santa refuses to give it his stamp of approval, and the children are angry. However, when Big Trouble punches Santa in the tummy, the children realize what a bad toy it is. To make amends, the children decide that the original Wondertoy was a pretty good playmate after all.
