I am a theater director at an all-girls school, but I absolutely loved this play despite its numerous male leads. We had boys audition from surrounding schools, but I wanted the girls to have more of the leads. To solve this problem, I switched all the male and female characters (Jane said Andrew's lines, Andrew said Jane's line, and the same with Geoff and Sally). I left Sarah, the Vicar, and Audrey and Edgar as they were written. In all honesty, it added a degree of humor that I had not anticipated -- Andrew became a slightly more effeminate and caring husband, while Jane became a rather hysterical tomboy wife. I would recommend the same to any director in a similar boat. Even if you are not in a similar position, this version certainly added a great deal more humor. Highly recommended tactic!
